Macreles (Bangda as called in konkani) roasted in bannana leaf.

    For this dish no other fish goes good. So, it is usally done with macreles one of the tastest fish.


   Step 1 : Clean macreles and than put the cuts, so that the masala goes well in the macreles.
                Macreles marinate well by doing this.


         














     Step 2 : Grind  red chillie powder ,vatamb sola (Else u can put tamrind) , tumeric, salt with water, to make a smooth paste.

                       
 
                    Apply these on macreles let it be for 20 min so that it marinates well.
                
Step 3: Now put some coconut oil on bannnana leaf and roll it. Do the same with other macreles.
                    













         Step 4: Put all the bannan rolled macreles in a flat pan, lid it.  Let it cook for  10 minutes turn                      them upside down and leave it cook for another 10 min.

Vangi Bharat and Paanbhakri Saklacha (Morning ) breakfast.


                       













          Ingredients :
                         
  •    Brinjal (Vangi in marathi / konkani )   ----  2 .
  •    Onion big                                         ----  2 .
  •    Grated coconut                                ----  1 cup.
  •    Green chillies                                   ----  2 or 3 (in No's as per taste ).
  •    Tamrind                                          ----  Very small.
  •    Salt                                                 ----  as per taste.
  •    Rice flour (Tandalicha peet)             ----  1/2 kg.
  •    Butter                                             ----   1 Tbsp.
  •    Banana Leaf
 
      Step1 : Apply a bit of coconut oil on brinjal and fry directly on stove.

















    









       


Step 2 : Remove the skin of the brinjal and add to the chutney
                    
     Step 3 : To prepare chutney, fry green chillie's in coconut oil. Grind coconut + chillie's+ tamrind.

            For Paanbhakri :

  Step 1 :  Mix  Riceflour, Salt, butter, water make a dough something like a chapati dough .                           

                                  
         Step 2 :  Make small balls, press on the banana leaf.
                                
        Step 3 : Cover the banana leaf. Put it on tava. Roast on both sides.
                                   
                                                        















          Step 3 :  Remove banana leaf, and fry the bakri well on both sides.
                          


          
And this is ready to eat

                               

Fish fry

                       




 Ingredients :  
                            1.  Fish                          ---- 1/2 kg  ( Surma, Macreles,Halwa ..........).
                            2.  Tamrind                    ----  Lemon size.
                            3.  Salt                           ---- As per taste.
                            4.  Red chillie powder    ---- 2Tbsp.
                            5.  Turmeric powder      ---- 1/2 tsp.
                            6.  Rava (semolina)                       ---- 4 Tbsp.
                            7.  Coconut oil for frying.

                           Step 1:  Clean the fish ( I have taken here Surma any fish is ok). 
                           Step 2 :  Put Salt and Turmeric,  Let  it marinate for 1/2 hour.
  
        

                       Step 3 :  Make tamarind water by adding water and tamarind, Put in red chillie powder.
                          
                   Step 4:   Apply it to the fish and leave it for 10min.  
                                    
                                                                
                  Step5  :  Apply  semolina or rava
                                         
                  Step 6 :  Heat oil in a kadai or frying pan. Put the fishes in oil, fry them.

Crab Masala --- Simple version..



 
     Ingredients :

  • Crabs                     -  1 kg.
  • Onions                   -  3 big finely chopped.
  • Green chillies          -  3-4  finely chopped.
  • Ginger                    -  1 tsp finely chopped
  • Coconut                 - 1 small finely grated.
  • Coconut Oil            - 2 Tbsp .
  • Red chillie powder   -1 Tbsp  (as per taste).
  • Turmeric powder     -1/4 tsp.
  • Salt                          - as per taste.
                      

      Procedure :                     
   
   Step 1 :  Clean Crabs, Put salt and turmeric
             
    Step 2 :  Put coconut oil in the pan. Let it become hot. Keep on low flame

   Step 3 :  Put chopped green chillies, than chopped ginger let it  fry till golden brown.



                                              

   Step 4 :   Add chopped onion's fry till golden brown.

                                         
             
   Step 5 :  Add  crabs than red chillie powder.

                        
   Step 5 :   Add 2 cups of water ,Cook it well for 10 mins.  Crabs turn red when boiled
                            
   Step 5 : Finally when cooked, add grated coconut and serve hot.

My frist Blog



Thats Gaud Saraswat people's simple dialy food. Am proud to be one. We are choosy in, when   it comes to food. One can say "We live to eat".

I love cooking and gardening a lot. Its really a stress buster. I thought why not collect some recipe's and put it up so that anyone who is interested in cooking can use. I  have learned these from my ayee and aaji (My mom and grandma mainly our food). Maratha style food from my aunt's. Am even thinking of putting local peoples food.
